Jón Ásgeirsson is an Executive Vice President for Strategy & Resource Park at HS Orka. The Resource Park is the leading green industrial cluster in Iceland built up around HS Orka’s geothermal power plants close to the international airport and the capital area. The Resource Park offers multiple streams from the geothermal resource and marks the ground in Iceland for a circular economy and the future. The park is offering the following resource streams:

The Resource Park offers greenfield sites in prime location in Iceland. It is within easy reach of the capital area, close to deep-sea ports and an international airport – offering access to efficient and reliable logistics around the world. Currently there are 50 ha of available industrial sites with connections to green certified power and multiple resource streams. The Resource Park currently consists of 10 companies, each of which utilizes more than one resource stream from the geothermal operation and in multiple sectors: a geothermal spa, cosmetics producer, aquaculture, e-methanol and fish processing. The park has future expansion plans and aims to become more circular, welcoming more sustainable businesses to join our vibrant community.

Jón Ásgeirsson joined HS Orka in March 2020 as EVP for Strategy & Resource Park.  Prior to that Mr Ásgeirsson worked at Rio Tinto, a global mining and aluminium company, for over 20 years in Europe and in North America.  He held various positions in operations, sales & marketing and in business development.  He has also worked internationally as a consultant on transformations.  Mr Ásgeirsson has a degree in chemistry from the University of Iceland and a master´s degree from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
