Over the past decade, Startup Iceland has grown from a blog and a conference into a platform.
Today, I’m excited to launch Startup Iceland News. It is a live hub on our site that aggregates Iceland’s latest headlines. It automatically translates them to English. This way, anyone can follow the pulse of our ecosystem in real time.

Why this matters

  • Accessibility: Most Icelandic headlines are in Icelandic (naturally!). Now global founders, investors, and partners can keep up in English.
  • Signal, not noise: We ingest from trusted sources like RÚV, Vísir, MBL, and more. We guarantee clear attribution to the original publisher.
  • Made for builders: Business, policy, science, culture—everything that shapes the context for founders in Iceland.

What’s live today

  • 📰 Real-time feed of Icelandic news, translated to English
  • 🌍 Multiple sources with a simple source filter
  • 🖼️ Images and hero highlights for key stories
  • Infinite scroll for smooth browsing on mobile

Tip: The front page now surfaces a “Top stories” row and a fast, scrollable feed beneath it.

What’s next

  • Topic lenses (Startups, Climate/Blue Economy, AI/Research, Policy)
  • Founder and investor interviews
  • Weekly digest and APIs for ecosystem partners

How we built it (open + respectful)

We fetch official RSS feeds, translate with Google Cloud, and display excerpts with clear links back to the original article. We want to amplify Iceland’s media—not replace it—so credit and traffic flow to publishers by design.

Explore it now

Head to Startup Iceland News on the front page and start scrolling. If you’re building in or with Iceland, I’d love your feedback and story tips.
