In the second part of the Circular Economy in Action. I speak to Björn Örvar the Chief Science Office of Orf Genetics. I have known Bjorn for over a decade now and the technology that he and his fellow scientists have developed is next to amazing. They figured out a way to grow animal and human growth factors i.e. proteins in plants. The company went through some challenging funding issues before they produced a hit product in skin care called Bio Effect. Now there are so many different vectors that are possible now that the technology has proven its worth. They are working on providing the raw materials to a number of companies like Upside Food that are making Meat without killing any animals. The implications of this technology is that we can dramatically bring down the cost of producing protein and more importantly it can done in a sustainable way.
