Raul Allikivi the co-founder and Chief Relationship Officer of Planetway Corporation will participate in the Founder’s Panel in Startup Iceland 2019. Raul is Estonian and lives in Japan. Raul is the brother of Runno Allikivi, the Head of Scandinavia for FunderBeam. Runno has become a close friend in a very short time. Runno and Raul are twins and I am told when Runno does not have a beard they look alike, I just need one of them to follow the other maybe that may never happen, anyways I digress here Raul’s bio
Raul Allikivi is a co-founder and Chief Relations Officer of Planetway Corporation, Estonian-Japanese hybrid startup that is using Estonian e-government technologies to create an era of human-centered data sovereignty where personal data is used on an individual permission basis to best benefit the individuals and society.
Raul is a serial entrepreneur who has also been agent for change in public sector. He served from 2007 to 2012 as Deputy Director General at Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Estonia, being in charge of diverse economic policies of the country. Among other responsibilities, he wrote several strategies to support Estonian companies internationalization and FDI attraction to Estonia; he was also a Member of Supervisory Board of Estonian Air, national flag carrier – and he initiated and was the main author of “Asia Program” for Estonia. Seeing that there were not many players doing business between Estonia and Asian countries, Raul left his government position, moved to Japan and started to develop these relations by himself.
In 2012, he founded a consultancy ESTASIA to promote the transfer of digital technologies from Estonia to Asian countries. In 2013 Raul also founded another company BIIRU for the trading of Japanese craft beer to European countries. He has also published a book (in Japanese) titled “Challenges for Estonia as a Future-Shaped Country: World Opened by Digital Government” in 2016. Raul received MA from Waseda University in Japan and BA from the University of Tartu in Estonia.
