I am excited to announce Lisa Rich will participate in Startup Iceland 2018. I got connected with Lisa through Arvind Gupta who is also coming to Startup Iceland 2018. Lisa and her husband Jeff have been very active angel investors and through angel list created their syndicate and have become prolific venture investors. Lisa and Jeff have been to Iceland but never realized that there is a vibrant startup community and when I got connected with Lisa, I shared that with her and she was quick to take on the offer to come to Iceland and connect with the Startup Community. Lisa Rich is a lifelong entrepreneur and is a founder and Managing Partner of Hemisphere Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm focused on frontier tech: synthetic biology, robotics, drones and space. Hemisphere has invested in over 200 U.S. companies since 2014. She is an early investor in Zymergen and Caribou Biosciences, and most recently syndicated deals for LunaDNA, Orphidia, Finless Foods and a stealth space company.
Lisa and her husband Jeff Rich created BrainyQuote in 2000. BrainyQuote has become the most extensive quotation resource ever built. BrainyQuote reaches hundreds of millions of people each year and continues to evolve using advanced machine learning systems.
Lisa worked with ad agencies and Fortune 500 companies at the birth of the Internet to create the first websites and digital strategies for major brands and companies. She earned her B.S. in English at Loyola University Chicago and Loyola University Rome Center in Italy, and completed her Master’s degree in Marketing Communications and E-commerce at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. She is a swimmer, open water diver, wildlife photographer and world traveler.
